Warning Signs
Although designed to not be overt, the windshield wiper blades on your Subaru Ascent, Outback, or Forester will have plenty of warning signs for when they’re in need of replacement. Obviously, if they fail to remove the rain from the front glass or if they create streaks that make it harder to see, then that can be an issue. Be sure to keep an ear out for unpleasant squeaking or scratching when they’re engaged. Additionally, they may jump or skitter across the glass instead of moving smoothly. This can mean the rubber blades have chipped, cracked, or eroded. Although rain isn’t a regular occurrence in and around San Luis Obispo, you should activate them at least once every other week to ensure that the metal connectors don’t rust and cause issues down the line.
OEM Parts
There are a wide range of different sizes of wiper blades that you’ll need to be conscious of when getting a replacement. You can always consult the Owner’s Manual to get specific information on which size your Subaru model will need. Our Parts Department stocks genuine OEM parts that are specifically designed to be compatible with your vehicle. Third party parts can work for your vehicle, but they’re designed to work with a wide range, so there’s no guarantee that they’re going to be a proper fit. Replacement Process
If you’d rather let our team of certified Subaru technicians handle this task, then we’d be more than happy to help. Our Service Department will know exactly what type of wipers your vehicle needs and can dispose of the old ones. While they’re at it, they can even top off your wiper fluid with no additional charge. This typically doesn’t require an appointment since it’s a quick service, but we recommend getting other routine maintenance checks done while you’re here. If it’s just the wipers being addressed, then you should be out quick enough to head to Laguna Lake Park on the same day. Should your SoCal drives are interrupted for any other reason, be sure to come to us!
