Through Subarus Love to Care initiative, the team donated a generous supply of warm, comforting blankets to patients undergoing treatment at PCR Oncology. These blankets, though simple in form, carry a powerful message of hope, compassion, and community support for those facing some of lifes most difficult challenges. The heartfelt delivery was more than just a donationit was a gesture of love and solidarity. For millions of children and adults experiencing homelessness and other urgent need situations across the country, even here in San Luis Obispo, this is a harsh reality. Helping others strengthens communities, which is why Subaru of San Luis Obispo is partnering with Operation Warm®, a national nonprofit focused on connecting children with the resources they need to thrive. Through this partnership and other Subaru Loves to Help® efforts, Subaru and retailers like Subaru of San Luis Obispo have helped nearly 900,000 children and adults in urgent need. On 01/13/2025, Subaru of San Luis Obispo donated 204 shoes/socks to Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo (CAPSLO). These essential items not only help keep children protected, warm, and dry, it can have a significant impact on a child's mental and emotional well-being.
Subaru of San Luis Obispo Helps the Central Coast Grow Greener One Tree at a Time - PARAS S
This spring, Subaru of San Luis Obispo deepened its commitment to sustainability through a meaningful partnership with Subaru Loves the Earth, a national initiative focused on protecting and preserving the planet for future generations. As part of this initiative, Subaru of SLO donated over 200 trees to local community members and its own employees, encouraging everyone to take part in making the Central Coast a cleaner, greener place to live. Employees volunteered their time to help distribute trees, while many also took the opportunity to plant them in their own neighborhoods, yards, and schoolsturning the act of giving into a powerful hands-on experience. From oak and redwood saplings to drought-tolerant species suited for our region, each tree planted represents Subarus larger commitment to environmental stewardship. Templeton Recreation is so thankful to be recognized by Subaru of San Luis Obispo. The generosity shown will help us tremendously in our efforts to provide safe, rewarding athletic experiences for the youth in our community. Our programs are growing quickly in Templeton with over 850 kids in Soccer, 400 in Basketball, 250 in Softball and T-Ball, and 350 in Flag Football, we facilitate over 250 youth sports teams annually, managed by 3 staff members. We believe that all children should have access to the programs in which they want to participate regardless of their ability to pay for it, and Subaru of San Luis Obispo is playing an integral role in our ability to provide scholarships, ensuring the funds received are going directly to those who need it most, the kids. Furthering our mission of providing high quality, enriching, and fun experiences for every player. A small amount of funds received will also go toward some much-needed field improvements, because a safe experience should be the foundation for all youth athletic programs. Making Rosie's Day - Emily L
During the month of October 2023, Subaru of San Luis Obispo pledged to donate $100 for each dog or cat adopted from Woods Humane Society, up to $3,100, in honor of Subaru Loves Pets month. This adoption event was highly publicized in our e-newsletter, on social media, and in media visits with local radio and television news stations. Subaru of San Luis Obispo brought a Subaru vehicle and signs and adopter swag to our adoption center for this event. Thanks to this exciting adoption event, 233 animals found forever homes during the month of October. Among them was Rosie, a very special Underdog who was featured as our Pet of the Week, using the Subaru Make a Dogs Day background graphics, for the week leading up to Make a Dogs Day. She was adopted two days later! At just three years old, Rosie looked like a typical lively, lovely border-collie-mix. However, she was surrendered to us after she began having grand mal seizures in her previous home, which our medical team determined were caused by idiopathic epilepsy. After performing multiple tests, we determined that she had a condition called protein-losing enteropathy, which causes protein loss and weight loss, and started her on a prescription diet and steroid medication. This treatment, combined with her continued anticonvulsant medication, proved to successfully control her seizures and improve her digestive symptoms. Once Rosies symptoms were under control, we simply needed to find the right family who could agree to continue her daily medications and diet so that she could thrive in a home. On October 24th, just two days after Make a Dogs Day, Rosies day was made by a young man who could see past her prescriptions and conditions to the loving, energetic, and adorable dog she truly is. We are so grateful to Subaru Loves Pets and Subaru of San Luis Obispo for helping us make Rosies day, aiding us in performing 233 adoptions in October, and supporting the shelter care and adoptions of even more animals through their generous donation to our adoption program. So many lives will be touched as a result of Subaru Loves Pets month, and we thank you for choosing to partner with Woods Humane Society for this far-reaching and powerful event.

Operation Surf's mission is to channel the healing powers of the ocean to restore hope, renew purpose, and revitalize community. Operation Surfs curriculum-based programs aim to inspire injured military and veterans to seek wellness in all aspects of their lives while providing the necessary resources, tools, and peer-to-peer support to continue this mindset indefinitely. By staying true to our core values of care, inclusion, commitment, integrity, and communication; we change participants lives one wave at a time. Subaru Sharing Their Love with Jack's Helping Hand - Noelle L
Jacks Helping Hand was founded by Paul and Bridget Ready in memory of their son Jack. Jack was diagnosed with a brain tumor at a very young age. He learned to communicate, eat, and play games like other children, but he needed special equipment and assistance to do those things. He also traveled to specialty children's hospitals for multiple appointments. During the course of Jacks journey, the Readys recognized that families with children with cancer and other special needs faced unexpected financial burdens. Jacks three-year struggle with cancer ended in 2004, and his legacy continues in the hearts of those he touched. Our mission is to provide financial assistance and community programs that meet the unique challenges of children with cancer or special needs under the age of 21. Jacks Helping Hand hit record highs in 2022 with the number of new children we have met through referrals to our office, the requests for assistance we have fulfilled for our children and their families, and the generous financial support of our donors who continue to walk hand-in-hand with us as we carry out that mission. We are beyond grateful for the generosity of Subaru of San Luis Obispo for including us in the Subaru Share the Love® Event. Their remarkable donation allows our Assistance Program to provide much-needed transportation, food, and lodging support for our children traveling to specialty childrens hospitals. Subaru of San Luis Obispo & Rancho Grande Motors Help 'Make a Dog's Day' at Woods Humane Society - Emily L
Through our partnership with Subaru of San Luis Obispo & Rancho Grande Motors, Woods Humane Society hosted the Make a Dogs Day adoption event from Saturday, October 22 Monday, October 31, 2022 at the Woods adoption facility location in San Luis Obispo, CA. The adoption event, which was held during Adopt a Shelter Dog Month and in the week leading up to our widely anticipated public dog celebration, Wiggle Waggle Fall Festival, offered fee-waived dog adoptions as a way to bring in foot traffic and potential adopters to our shelter. During the Make a Dogs Day adoption event, we placed 87 animals for permanent adoption placement in wonderful homes in our community. The generous grant from the ASPCA and Subaru covered the adoption fees of 26 dogs ($150 per dog, on average), which go toward the direct costs (estimated to be $800 per animal) associated with preparing dogs for adoption. Subaru of San Luis Obispo & Rancho Grande Motors, our local Subaru dealership, displayed a new car at the shelter for the event kickoff, provided items for our adoption packets, and gave each adopter a stuffed Subaru dog toy. We are very pleased with the outcome of this event and that we were able to find loving homes for so many homeless pets in a short amount of time. In total in the month of October, 71 cats, 80 dogs, 108 kittens, and 24 puppies were adopted for a grand total of 283 animals. During the Make a Dogs Day Adoption Event, senior dog Buddy, a 9-year-old Jack Russell terrier mix, found his new home. Another highlight was King, a 4-year-old Australian Cattledog / Catahoula mix that had been at our shelter previously. He experienced high levels of anxiety in the shelter environment, so our medical team had prescribed him anti-anxiety medication and our training and volunteer team had been giving him extra enrichment and outings to help ease his time with us. Luckily, he did not have to stay long! Thanks to ASPCA and Subaru, he was adopted on the second day of the adoption event, just two weeks after his intake! Finally, two adoptions that happened during the month of October thanks to the support of Subaru Loves Pets and Rancho Grande Motors were JCPenny and Little Foot. JCPenny was a senior, nearly blind terrier-mix who had been transferred to us from an overcrowded shelter in the Central Valley. She was so sweet and lovable that she became an instant staff favorite, but was having trouble finding a loving family to adopt her. During October, she was adopted by a woman who fell in love and would be able to spoil her and give her the love and security she needed. Little Foot was surrendered by a breeder after being born with congenital abnormality that left his right front paw severely underdeveloped. The disproportionately small paw was sure to cause long-term discomfort for him, so our team performed an amputation. After making a full recovery, Little Foot was adopted by a veteran with PTSD. He is now proudly putting his best feet forward as an emotional support animal.

We are stronger and better together. Here at PCR Oncology we were touched to find out that our local Subaru dealer Subaru of San Luis Obispo (SLO) chose to partner with us to deliver Subaru Loves to Care blankets and craft kits to our patients. These blankets are a symbol of love, hope, and healing for our patients during one of the most difficult times of their lives. The blankets keep our patients warm and comfortable while going through their treatments. We are so thankful for the staff and customers from Subaru of SLO to write notes of encouragement and share them with our patients. With support from organizations like Subaru of SLO, patients at PCR can get a glimpse of hope and support that they are not alone in their journey. Subaru of San Luis Obispo Makes a Difference for Wild Horses, Burros - Cory G
Return to Freedom Wild Horse Conservation (RTF) is truly grateful for being recognized by Subaru of San Luis Obispo who recently donated $25,318 raised during Subarus 14th annual Share the Love® Event to RTF. The funds will go toward veterinary care for the more than 450 wild horses and burros RTFs care at three California locations, as well as to help complete a much-needed water project at our Lompoc, Calif., headquarters sanctuary. In recent years, RTF has spent an average of $41,000 annually on veterinary care, so Subarus donation will have significant positive impact on the horses and burros in our care including a growing number of senior and special needs horses. The other vital project the funds will help support is our new well. There have been years when it became necessary to purchase water when our shallow well ran dry during the dry season. A few years ago, RTF worked with a new hydrologist and found an area to dig for a new and deeper well. We have completed most of the work but still have to purchase the pump and trench electric lines and water lines from the new well to the existing system. Subarus much-needed donation comes at a time of unprecedented challenges for RTFs American Wild Horse Sanctuary. In just one year, hay prices have exploded from $250 per ton to $450 per ton! On behalf of the more than 450 wild horses and burros and all of us at RTF: A huge thank-you to General Manager Chris Wallace, Sales Manager Paras Shukla, and the Subaru of San Luis Obispo team for selecting RTF as their hometown charity as well as to all of their wonderful customers who chose to support wild horses! Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo (CAP SLO) With winter nearing the community of San Luis Obispo started to face growing homelessness. To help deliver the Subaru Love Promise, on December 10th, 2021 Subaru of San Luis Obispo and CAP SLO came together during this winter to donate blankets and socks to the community to make the lives of individuals around the community better. Subaru of SLO delivered number of blanks and socks for those less fortunate to help them through the winter times. The Blanks and socks were given to individuals who needed it the most to stay warm and get through the winter. We look forward to working with CAP SLO in the future to help our community with other assistances.

One special underdog was Emi, a sweet, playful ten-month-old pup who came to Woods as a transfer from a partner animal shelter in the Central Valley. Upon examination, the Woods medical team was concerned with the awkward sway of her hips as Emi walked. X-rays confirmed their suspicions: poor Emi was suffering from a fractured leg that had not healed well and an out of place hip. Her long-term quality of life was in jeopardy. Two surgeries were performed over the course of two months to repair Emis leg and hips, restore her healthy gait, and give this resilient dog the years of active play and carefree walks she deserves. Emi recovered in a private foster home and was adopted on October 14, 2021.
